KES Students Represent Sheffield's Youth in Important Cabinet Positions

Six students from Youth Cabinet pose with teachers with their certificates

In January, 16 students from KES stood in the Sheffield Youth Cabinet elections. These students submitted a manifesto detailing what their top three priorities would be in they were successfully elected to the Youth Cabinet as well as campaigning in school or their local area.

We are pleased to announce that 6 of our students were successfully elected to the Youth Cabinet! They will remain on the cabinet for two years and work alongside other young people from across the city.

Students in the Youth Cabinet:

  • Attend regular meetings to work on identified priorities, issues and campaigns locally, regionally and nationally
  • Consult and work closely with young people in their local area
  • Participate in local projects and campaigns on behalf of the young people they represent
  • Meet with Councillors, MPs, Ministers and key decision makers

The school was also presented with the Silver Democracy Award.

The students elected to the Youth Cabinet come from Years 7-12 and are named and pictured below, with Emma Hinchliffe (Youth Voice and Influence Worker), Miss Broadhead and Mr Haigh.
